Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is a scheme allowing UK taxpayers to give to the charities of their choice on a tax free basis. It allows donations to be taken from the giver's account before tax is taken (gross salary), allowing the donation to cost less for the giver. For every £1.00 donated through the scheme, the giver will pay only £0.80 (or £0.60 for a higher rate tax payer), as the rest is taken from money that has been taxed. Therefore, a monthly gift of fifteen pounds will cost the giver only twelve pounds (or nine pounds if they are a higher rate tax payer).
Payroll giving is a way for your business and employees to give to your chosen charity through simple and effective methods. It is quick and easy to set up and oversee, making it an effective way of allowing your employees to demonstrate commitment to their chosen cause. It allows businesses to expand their enthusiasm for a particular charity or cause by encouraging their employees to get involved with giving, in a way that requires less effort and financial strain than ordinary giving. The scheme is easy to sign up to and come out of, allowing for flexibility in giving within the workplace and placing full control into the hands of the giver. The scheme recognizes and rewards businesses and charities for setting up Payroll Giving for their staff, granting Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Through offering Payroll Giving to employees within your business, it is a way in which your fundraising team can exercise its approach to giving with internal employees before reaching out to new ones.
Payroll Giving is an incredibly valuable scheme for Hope for Latvia as it provides us with regular and reliable income, allowing us to budget and plan for the future. This regular financial support enables us to reach our full potential for the Latvian people in our projects and all that we do. Setting up Payroll Giving will provide Hope for Latvia with a sustainable source of income and show direct commitment and enthusiasm on the part of your business. Please consider whether your business and its employees can support us in this way. It would be greatly appreciated.
